Lady Falcons Fall to Sparty

72-62 was the final score Saturday afternoon at Louisville’s Freedom Hall.  BG was tied with Michigan St at halftime even with Lauren Prochaska on the bench towards the end with 2 fouls as Tracy Pontius hit 5 3’s.  But MSU slowly pulled away in the 2nd half with tighter defense and asserting their decided height advantage in the lane.  Oh well.  It was still a good season for the Lady Falcons and with all of the players in the regular rotation except Tara Breske and Tamika Nurse back next season there is every reason to think a return to the NCAAs is doable.  It’ll be Prochaska and Pontius’ senior seasons next year so maybe they can make a run like Ali Mann and Liz Honneger did for theirs.  At any rate, given that with 24 of the 32 first round games played the higher seed has won every single game, including the 7 8/9 & 7/10 games played, I guess being competitive till the last few minutes in a 5/12 game is a victory of sorts.

One of those 24 advancers was the Lady Buckeyes who manhandled St. Francis of Laredo, PA at Pitt.  They will play Mississippi St Tuesday at 7pm at the Peterson Events Center.
