Intolerable Situation

The US military has stopped using its C-130s to airlift critically injured Haitians to American hospitals due to squabbles over who will pay for their care:

This is completely unacceptable.  Get these people into hospitals!  I don’t care about the exact mechanism but obviously the federal government should be covering the hospital bills here.  Worry about getting compensation from the Haitian government down the line perhaps, maybe jawbone the hospitals and the Florida government into covering some of the up-front cost initially with reassurance that they will be reimbursed, whatever is logistically necessary.  But let’s keep these people alive damnit!  And lets not expect the government of the State of Florida to foot this bill just because they are the state closest to Haiti.
