NFL TV Maps for Pittsburgh/Youngstown/Wheeling Markets for Week 16

The action starts Christmas night with San Diego @ Tennessee on the NFL Network. I believe kickoff is shortly after 7pm with the customary crew of Bob Papa and Matt Millen on the call. On Sunday CBS has the doubleheader. At 1pm all local affiliates, including Youngstown, will show Baltimore @ Pittsburgh with Dick Enberg and Dan Fouts. The Browns are playing in the same timeslot but since they are out of it and the Steelers still have a pulse WKBN has chosen to show the Steeler game. Given that the Steelers are at home by rule Fox Pittsburgh will wait until 4:05 to show a game, which will be St. Louis @ Arizona with Sam Rosen and Tim Ryan. Youngstown and Wheeling are still listed as TBA for Fox. My assumption is they will show the featured 1pm game of Carolina @ NY Giants with Joe Buck and Troy Aikman, but that is just supposition on my part*. Its a holiday weekend but I’ll post an update when I have one if I can. At 4:15 on CBS all local affiliates will show the primary doubleheader game Denver @ Philadelphia with Jim Nantz and Phil Simms. And as usual the NFL Red Zone Channel will offer its customary continuous live whip around the league on Sunday afternoon. The Sunday Night game on NBC is Dallas @ Washington with Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth and the Monday Night game on ESPN is Minnesota @ Chicago with Mike Tirico, Ron Jaworski, and Jon Gruden. As always this info courtesy of the506.com and subject to change. Enjoy the games!

And a couple quick side notes. The Week 17 schedule is still not set in stone, including the lack of a night game. That final week the NFL can wait as late as the Tuesday prior, December 29th, to announce the schedule. However it could be announced sometime Sunday night so that NBC has a chance to hype the game they drew. This Sunday’s games will help winnow the possibilities and CBS and Fox both have the right to protect one game on their schedule, but I would think the possibilities right now include Dallas/Philadelphia, Giants/Minnesota, and Pittsburgh/Miami.

Also I apologize that yesterday’s playoff scenarios analysis did forget two AFC possibilites; that New England loses their last 2 games to drop to 9-7 and/or that Cincinnati loses their last 2 games to drop to 9-7. The former could allow Miami to win the East and would be bad news for the Jets who cannot finish ahead of the Pats in the division standings. The latter could allow Baltimore to win the North and would be bad news for Pittsburgh who cannot finish ahead of the Bengals in the division standings. Either collapse could help Jacksonville get a wildcard, a Bengals collapse could help Miami or New York.

*UPDATE* No longer supposition on my part. It is confirmed that both Fox Youngstown and Wheeling will show the Carolina/NY Giants game at 1pm.

The playoff analysis never seem realistic to me… I think they just do it to confuse the viewers!
