Phew!

Well, the fans at Mellon Arena got a nice, close, competitive contest for the last home game of the season.  Nothing easy or cheap in this game, Staal puts home his own rebound, Kennedy makes a nice play behind the net, and Detroit’s goal was off some good passing and a rebound.  Obviously the star of the game was Fleury making several nice saves, and then a sensational save on Cleary on the breakaway chance with about 90 seconds left.  And then Scuderi came up huge in the crease area with about 15 seconds left to deny the Wings last great chance to score.

So now it all comes down to a Game 7 Friday night in Detroit.  Can the Pens find a way for someone to win a road game in this series?  Or will the Wings call out the Joe Louis Arena mystique one more time?  If you watch one hockey game every five years, I suggest you locate NBC Friday night.  Should be fun!  Go Pens!
