Bowling Green Earns Top Seed

For the upcoming MAC Men’s Basketball Tournament to be held at Cleveland’s Quicken Loans Arena Tuesday and Thursday-Saturday.  The Falcons throttled the visiting Ohio Bobcats this afternoon at Anderson Arena and got the help they needed when Buffalo beat Miami in overtime.  BG and Buffalo tied for the best record in the conference at 11-5 with the Falcons winning the tiebreaker based on sweeping the season series.  BG will play either Western Michigan or Ohio at 7pm Thursday evening in the quarterfinals.  In terms of getting the NCAA bid being the #1 seed doesn’t really help much; the MAC, at least the MAC East, was very evenly matched and really BG, Buffalo, Miami, Akron, and Kent enter with basically even odds of celebrating Saturday night.  But what the #1 seed does do is it guarantees BG does no worse than the NIT.  Of course, I want them to win 3 games in Cleveland and go to the NCAAs for the first time in 41 years.

This became official awhile back, but it should also be noted that the Lady Falcons will once again be seeded E1 for the MAC Women’s Tournament, also being held in Cleveland Wednesday and Friday-Sunday.  BG will begin seeking their 4th NCAA bid in 5 years Friday at 11am at Quicken Loans Arena.  Go Falcons!
