George Will Selectively Reads Constitution

He is concerned about DC being accorded statehood:

He makes a very valid point.  However, he ignores completely another very valid basic philosophy of American governance; no taxation without representation.  DC has no representation in Congress (no, a non-voting Delegate doesn’t count).  Personally, I would be fine with folding DC into Maryland for purposes of allocating House seats (perhaps with a provision that DC not be gerrymandered apart) and having a voice in the Senate.  But to me the exact mechanics are less important than the underlying necessity to give the residents of DC a voice in Congress.  Its only 200 years overdue at this point.
