No Last Minute Pardons

It would appear, rather surprisingly, that no last minute deluge of pardons came off the desk of President Bush before he flew into retirement in Texas.  On Monday he issued 2 commutations to Border Patrol agents that shot a drug smuggling, but unarmed, illegal immigrant in the butt and were given long prison sentences for that act and trying to cover it up afterwards.  Of course, a commutation means the actual convictions stand, its just that they get out of jail in March instead of many long years from now.  And that’s it.  No politically charged pardons of cronies like most presidents issue their last hours in office.  Just a weekend at Camp David, coffee with the Obamas, and one last flight on a plane in the Air Force 1 fleet back to Texas.  Rather boring, actually.
