If You Think It Will Work

It has a solid chance of working.  Even if your doctor conned you into taking a placebo:

I must say, I got a chuckle out of marketing “Obecalp”; I bet a lot of people would never catch on.  An ethical dilemna to be sure.  Then again, if it works, why knock it?  If it turns out the patient was a hypochondriac, you discovered that without prescribing an actual medical drug that might’ve had other deliterious effects in an attempt to cure a non-illness.  If the placebo doesn’t work, phase II of the treatment plan can always be a medicine with an actual active ingredient.
