Some interesting parallels. I can personally attest that the McCain campaign is already doing the “fill in the blanks” in Pennsylvania with heavy advertising, including an ad I saw for the first time this past weekend hitting hard the Vietnam angle, including the fact he volunteered to stay when the Viet Cong tried to send him home (protocol was that the prisoner who had been there the longest goes first, and that was not McCain; no one left the Hanoi Hilton for America till after the war) and his conservative roots in the form of phot ops with Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan. And the RNC was probing Obama for soft spots a couple weeks ago with an energy policy ad. We’ll see if it works.
